This book is not just about segregation and the forces that support it’s existence. It is also a book about the human condition. It addresses one of the most basic human desires: freedom; the freedom to live fully and completely within the larger society as complete, whole, and equally valued members. It is the question of what does it mean to be a human existing as a full member of a society. This manuscript provides a glimpse into the forces that impacted school desegregation experiences in Chicago and across the nation.
